ITASCAN BLOODFLIES
Facts: Parasitic flies were the genetic creation of High Admiral Skryton's laboratories aboard the Savage Knight. Engineered to be a biological nuisance to enemy eco-systems, they were first let go into the ecology of Itasca. The large insects weight can amass up to three pounds or more, and range in size from one, to sometimes three feet in length. Blood Flies are carriers of incurable disease. Scientists believe their suckling of infected blood from Porphyrians transformed them into the same genetic code as the vampirical savages. This would account for many cases of Porphyrian transformations of humanoids where Porphyrians were not in the vicinity of the victims. Some convicts of Itasca used the Blood Flies for food, which caused incidents of plague in some regions. Blood Flies travel in swarms. When they come across prey (sometimes 100 times their size or more), in swarms, they wrap their wings around their bodies and drop like hail storms from the sky, pelting their victims before assaulting, and draining their blood.
